PROJECT FACTS

The new $15.0 M High School consisted of 2 stories with distinct gymnasium, cafeteria/offices/lab, and classroom wings.

The classroom and office wings utilize composite steel beams at the second floor and steel joists for the roof bearing on concrete masonry walls.  The use of composite beams instead of the more traditional steel joist construction is estimated to save more than $50,000 in structure costs and will provide a structure which exhibits less vibrations under foot traffic.  The lateral bracing system utilizes reinforced masonry shear walls.  The gymnasium wing utilizes long span steel joists and joist girders supported on steel columns.
