PROJECT FACTS

Fast-track methodology

This $35.0 M project consisted of a 3-story plus mechanical penthouse addition totaling approximately 139 beds and 155,000 sq ft.  Architectural and special use considerations included fire-rated structural assemblies, multiple fire-walls, an indoor natatorium, a 3-story atrium with 70 feet long clearspan structure above, and rehabilitation equipment on supported floor structure.

The building structure is a steel frame utilizing composite steel beam construction.  The foundation system consists of a combination of shallow spread footings and drilled piers bearing on bedrock and supporting a system of spanning grade beams and reinforced concrete retaining walls.  The lateral force resisting system utilizes a combination of concentrically braced frames and masonry shear walls.
